Acrylic Cleaners are Dangerous
Bona products, although advertised as safe to use on wood and laminate, is far from the truth. Cleaning products such as Bona and Rejuvenate have acrylic in both the polish and the cleaner. What happens when a cheap acrylic dries on your wood or laminate? Initially it may result in a shiny floor but the thin product cannot hold up against pets, children, or even shoes.
The product recommends putting on a thin coat no more than a few times per year but we all know most of us use it a lot more than that. The problem with using these products are that they leave a thin layer of polish which is easily scratched or scuffed and how do you remove those scratches and scuffs?
It can be dangerous to try to remove these acrylic products alone. As we all know, it’s not good to put a lot of liquid on your wood or laminate for extended periods because it can result in cupping in the wood. Products like ammonia is sometimes used to emulsify the wax and break it down for removal but this can be dangerous.
Professional floor cleaners should be used for this process of removal. Chemicals will be used that are safe for removal of acrylic waxes and will leave no damage to your floors.
